Is it true that Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo will star as Philippines' famous Mermaid in 2014 TV remake of Dyesebel? After revealing to the public that Angel Locsin will be back as Darna in the Big screen, there were speculations that Bea might reprise the role of Mars Ravelo’s Dyesebel. Why and why not? Recently, photos and videos of Bea swimming effortlessly in a pool were scattered online. Thus, fans started to believe their idol is the new face of Dyesebel.

Kristine Hermosa, recently, the Kapamilya network has a press release in which Kristine will be relaunched next year as new "Fantaserye" queen.

Anne Curtis, known for her Diyosa TV starring, she was recently seen by many people in Bataan and might be taping for Dyesebel? And note, she played as mermaid in an episode of Diyosa.

I've never been a fan ofJustin Bieberbut with his latest works of mercy, well, there's always a room for consideration. Yeah, Kudos to JB! After that allegedly scandalous act with Argentinian Flag and other bad news attached to young Super starJustin Bieber, it didn't hinder him to do some relief work for Yolanda's victims here in the Philippines. On Tuesday morning, the 19 year old Bieber arrived in Manila and flew to Tacloban for #GiveBackPhilippines campaign.

The 53rd Miss International Beauty Pageantwill be held on December 17 in Shinagawa Prince Hall,Tokyo ,Japan. And as early as now, front runners and early favorites area already spreading online or in Social Media sites. "Miracles do happen when we work as one", said WestJet Airlines' Santa Claus

Last December 8, Canada's own WestJet Airlines'Christmas Miracle Video has gained a lot of views as it gives happiness and hope to everybody for this coming Christmas season. It goes viral as it has 7,419,904 views (As of this writing) in their official Youtube account.

Before they depart from Toronto and Hamilton, passengers of WestJet Airlines were asked by a Virtual St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) what they wanted or wish list for Christmas after scanning their boarding passes at a special kiosk set up for them. Some of them asks real wish list such as large TV, Samsung Galaxy smartphone and there's a guy asking for Socks and Underwear (he might thought it was a joke) and surprisingly, they received those wishes as they boarded.

Xian Lim is a Gayish-mammal, Jobert Sucaldito Says

Yesterday, veteran Journalist and Radio/TV host Jobert Sucaldito posted in his Facebook account the incident he had with Kapamilya actor Xian Limduring a live interview in DZMM's Mismo Program. Papa Ahwel Paz, Sucaldito's co-anchor was assigned to cover the fundraising concert of ABS-CBN at Araneta Coliseum while Sucaldito was assigned in the Studio and had a chance of interviewing some artists for the program. Interviews with Kian Cipriano, Kaye Abad, Dawn Zulueta, KC Concepcion and Robi Domingo went well until such time Papa Ahwel was able to have a chance with Xian Lim and there started the story...

I had one of the most memorable experiences sa aking career as a journalist and radio/tv host just tonight - memorable in the sense na nakalusot ang pambabastos sa akin ng male star na si Xian Lim. Halos mapaiyak ako sa galit while doing my job on-air not because hindi ko siya kaya pero nakaramdam ako ng sobrang pagkainsulto mula sa isang taong wala pa namang napatunayan sa industriyang ito. While I did our MISMO program sa DZMM, my co-anchor Papa Ahwel Paz was assigned to cover the fundraising concert ng ABS-CBN sa Araneta Coliseum. Ibinabato sa akin ni Papa Ahwel sa studio ang kaganapan sa Araneta via Skype - once in a while ay nagka-chance kami na makainterbyu ng ilang artists LIVE habang ako'y nagproprograma sa studio. We had nice conversations with Kian Cipriano, Kaye Abad, Dawn Zulueta, KC Concepcion and Robi Domingo. Until nagka-chance si Papa Ahwel na mahila itong si Xian Lim na katatapos lang yata ng kanilang number sa show for a short interview. We started well sa interbyuhang iyon and I even congratulated him sa natanggap nila ni Kim Chiu ng special award sa ASAP18 last Sunday. He acknowledged it naman and shared some nice points. I then followed up a cute question na pampakilig lang dahil hindi niya kasama si Kim sa production number nila - "hindi mo ba makakasama si Kim ngayong gabi?" obviously referring to the show. Short of saying kung meron ba silang duet or a number together. He asked kung ano raw ulit ang tanong ko and Papa Ahwel echoed my question - "hindi raw ba kayo magsasama ni Kim tonight?" And this hambog na male starlet na ito ay biglang nagtaray ng "ano ba namang tanong iyan" sabay tanggal ng earphone niya and walked away.

I felt slighted - nainsulto akong bigla sa tinuran ng malamyang aktor-aktoran na ito. Yes, I admit - nagalit talaga ako and I won't let this just pass by nang ganoon-ganoon na lang. I said on air that I will definitely give him a piece of my mind. The nerve of this trying hard male chauvinist na ito na mang-insulto ng isang taong wala namang sinabi o ginawang masama sa kaniya. I don't understand why this gayish-mammal gave me a full strike when all I had was the best intention to promote him and his screen partner. Ginago ako ng hinayupak na ito. After more than 30 years of being in this business, ngayon lang ako nabastos ng isang sipuning aktor-aktoran. Nakaramdam akong bigla ng awa sa aming dalawa ni Papa Ahwel Paz - a man of dignity and maingat sa kaniyang trabaho. Hindi ba marunong mag-demarcate ang lampang male starlet na ito between a serious question and a pa-cute one? I don't think Papa Ahwel and me deserve this - kung gusto niya ng gaguhan, call kami. Kung gusto niya ng suntukan, call din ako. Matalo man ako ayos lang dahil BAKLA ako pero pag natalo ko siya, lalabas na mas BAKLA siya.

After the show, I received a barrage of text messages from friends and even regular listeners and viewers ng DZMM Teleradyo - all hated him. merong isang madreng nagsabing he was truly RUDE and must be taught his GMRC which he might missed in school. One says na napakabastos niya and another one saying na napaka-mal-edukado ng dating niya.

Yes, I'm angry at this Xian Lim. After the show, I went to have coffee sa Zirkoh. Gusto kong magpalipas ng sama ng loob. Gusto kong magpahupa ng galit until I received a text message from his handler Gidget of Star Magic. She forwarded to me xXan's message - "sorry kanina na-offend kita. I meant no disrespect. Magulo at maingay sa paligid. Pasensiya na".

That easy, xian? You mean, kaya ka nakapagtaray ng "ano ba namang tanong iyan" and walked away dahil magulo at maingay sa paligid mo. Gusto mong maniwala kaming hindi mo narinig ang tanong ko - pero nakasagot ka ng "ano ba namang tanong iyan" sabay walk out. A very gayish gesture - di ko lang alam kung nakataas din ang kilay mo when you walked away because I didn't see your goddamn face then after. I may forgive you but I don't think this soon. Not at your convenience honey! I will compose myself first - titimplahin ko muna ang sarili ko kung hanggang saan ang naging tama nito sa akin. I will definitely forgive you one day - I'm sure about that but you have to learn your lessons first. Huwag masyadong mayabang Xian because you're nothing yet. You're still just a piece of shit for me dahil wala ka pang napatunayan to act that way. Wala ka pang licence to harm others - especially the feelings of seniors like us. Kahit pa halimbawang sikat na sikat ka na, wala ka pa ring karapatang magyabang at mambastos ng kapwa. Gago rin ako, xian. Baka worse pa than what you think. I know that we could live on this damn earth without each other - pero meron lang akong sinusunod na paninindigan sa buhay ko - "hindi ako nanghihingi ng respeto kanino man (because respect is gained) pero wala akong binibigyan ng karapatang bastusin ako!" Over my dead body Xian Lim or whoever you are.

This is just the beginning of a war Xian Lim. There's more in my heart na gusto ko lang iparamdam sa iyo. Let's schedule kung kailan kita patatawarin pero kailangang maramdaman mo muna ang sakit ng ginawa mong pang-iinsulto sa amin ni Papa Ahwel at sa istasyong pinaglilingkuran namin. Kung sa palagay mo'y handa ka nang humarap, just advise us. And better be good, man!

Bea Rose Santiago who hailed from Masbate, Philippines but grew at Toronto, Canada was crowned Miss International 2013. In Miss International 2013 Pageant, each Top 5 finalists were given 30 seconds speech on the same question, "What I will do if I am crowned Miss International?"

Metro Manila Film Festival 2013 Movies Review

Honestly, Years ago, I was not into Tagalog Movies when it comes to watching them in Theatres that will worth PHP 150-190 for a single ticket entrance. But for Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and for the love and support of Movie Industry, I started enjoying them in Cinemas with friends and families. This year, movie goers can choose from these Eight entries in different genres such as Action, Drama, Thriller, Comedy, Horror, Suspense, Romance, Musical, Biography and Epic.

Now, here's some personal movie review on the movies I watched so far.

Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir


 

There was a special screening of this Movie last December 19 at SM City Cebu Cinema One with Media, Bloggers, Church personnel and other invited Guests and Casts of the movie. Personally, I prefer to watch movie with a special taste on Entertainment and Comedy as we need to chill and smile after those heavy problems and disasters that Philippines encountered but this film did change my MMFF Movies' view as an audience.

 LIKE: First of all, the film's Cinematography deserves a standing ovation as it gives Philippines' tourism plus points. This film gives spotlights to the supporting casts which I noticed came from Indie Films like Andrew Schimmer (Project X and Eskandalo), Mercedes Cabral ( Thirst (2009), Thy Womb (2012) and Hiyas (2012) ), Johnron Tañada (Kubli) and others.

For the main cast, I was indeed moved by Rocco Nacino's portrayal of San Pedro Calungsod. Minus his wig and "Bisaya" pronunciation, Roco did a great job and the acting is somehow natural. Spanish character of Christian Vasquez ( Padre Diego Luis de San Vitores) is convincing and I bet if you're not a Filipino, you might see him as a real Spaniard Priest. And my hats off to Robert Correa as Maga'lahi Hirao, He played the role very well which give viewers the urge to somehow hate him in a worst manner (if you know what I mean).

Kudos to writer/director Francis O. Villacorta of pulling this list of great casts and educational movie.

 DISLIKE: First as mentioned, I don't like Rocco's wig, it's not natural. Alvin Aragon pronunciation of "bisaya" scripts are irritating most especially that line of "Naka-ihi na hinoon ko sa akong purol." Some scenes don't give viewers idea what were those all about and some have lack of presentation. (But I still like this movie)

Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy


On the first day of MMFF 2013 showing, December 25, together with friends, I queued myself in SM City Cebu Cinema One entrance just to watch this much anticipated Box-Office Film among the MMFF entries. Indeed, the ticket which is PHP 195.00 worth the wait and standing positions were all over the available space inside the Cinema.

LIKE: As we expect, Vice Ganda who plays the roles of Girlie/Peter/Mark/Panying Jackstone really did a great comedy job. His jokes are new and punch lines were done in the right timing. I wasn't excited to watch this film but my friends were. One of the best and funny scene I love most was with Bakla and Janitor taken in a Mall in which Bakla was looking for a job and got this funny interaction with the Janitor, ooops Spoiler alert!

Aside from Vice Ganda's comedy act, Diamond Star, Ms Maricel Soriano had left viewers crying in some drama scenes. Those serious Family encounters and problems were natural. For sure Block Buster director Wenn V. Deramas has juiced out the casts' bestest acting in this film.

DISLIKE: If you were able to see it's trailer, it's not really convicing to watch plus the jokes and comedies were not that humorous as we expect. I noticed there were scenes which are fake where all Vice Ganda characters need to show and do some interactions. Fake in the way that the eyes of a certain character does not actually give conversation to the other characters. But I believe if properly edited, those were perfect!

Synopsis [Wikipedia]:

It tells the story of quadruplet siblings played by Vice Ganda which the girl and the boy grew in the custody of their rich father while the "bakla" (Mark) and "tomboy" (Panying) grew in their poor mother.

But destiny makes a way to make their paths cross in an unexpected way. Two of them meet in the mall (The girl, (Girlie)and the Gay, (Mark), wherein one of them was arrested after being mistaken as the one who shoplifted an item. But when things got wrong, Dad reveals they are not just twins, but quadruplets. As the four of them meet and their parents confess the truth as to why they were parted, they will be facing another challenge as one of them is in need of a liver transplant. (Peter)

But since they’ve been separated for a long time and grew apart, there will be hesitations if saving the life of the other really matters.

Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel


Before our Friends watched GBBT, we did Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel first. But disappointment was encountered.

LIKE: Action scenes between characters were amazing. I was not expecting Eugene Domingo can pull off such great karate moves. Comedy scenes in which  Kimmy and Dora started taking different kinds of Jobs from their company were indeed funny and so Laughing-Out-Loud. Rodin Bartoletti (played by Sam Milby) was also outstanding his character, not to mention the skills he showed in this film. The outfit of Kimmy and Dora are adorable, yes I included it here in the review.

Vhong Navarro Beaten at the Fort by Group of Men

Last Wednesday evening, January 22, 2014 there was a report that ABS-CBN It's Showtime and comedian Vhong Navarro was blindfolded/tied and beaten by a group of men inside a condominium unit in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. As of now, he cannot give details as he cannot speak well due to the attack.


Here’s the Complete Statement of Chito Rono, Vhong Navarro’s Manager:

"The comedian was invited by a female friend to visit her in her condominium unit. Several men allegedly blindfolded Navarro and beat him up when he got in the premises of the condominium.

Navarro was also threatened and was a victim of extortion, adding they have yet to find out the reason behind the attack.

Navarro will temporarily not be seen on “It’s Showtime,” which airs weekdays and Saturdays, and on his other television projects, as he continues to recover.”

"Si Vhong Navarro ay naimbitihan sa isang condominium unit sa Fort ng isang kaibigang babae. At sa di pa malamang kadahilanan, siya ay piniringan, pinagtulungang bugbugin, ginapos, tinakot, at hinihingan ng pera ng isang grupo ng kalalakihan noong January 22, Miyerkules.

"Si Vhong ay kasalukuyang nagpapagaling at mawawala ng pansamantala sa 'It's Showtime' at iba pa niyang proyekto."



Navarro might underfo surgery after the allegedly attack. He might not be seen in his ABS-CBN projects and TV Shows.

Controversial comedian, actor and It's Showtime Host Vhong Navarro is once again facing a Rape Case from a pageant contestant Roxanne Acosta Cabañero after that Denice Cornejocontroversy. Roxanne accused Navarro of raping her in the year 2010.  But what made netizens and people think twice on this latest rape case are the time and venue versions of the stories.

April 24, 2010 - Vhong Navarro was a special guest of Vice Ganda and Kean Cipriano concert at Island Cove in Kawit Cavite.

In a press release by Island Cove, it stated that the said concert is scheduled to start at 8 p.m

April 25, 2010 ( 2:20 AM) - Kean Cipriano posted a tweet "Just got home from island cove. congrats VICE GANDA and Vhong. you guys are the best!"

In a Youtube video uploaded by user wharzeek , it stated there "LAST HIRIT NI VICE GANDA,KEAN,VHONG"



Yesterday,  former wife of Vhong Navarro posted an instagram status with caption "Need I say more? April 24, 2010 8pm onwards island cove cavite."


Roxanne Acosta Cabañero Story:

April 24, 2010 - In her submitted affidavit, Vhong suggested to meet Roxanne in her Hotel Room in Astoria Plaza Ortigas, Pasig City.

April 24, 2010 (within the hours of 10:30 to 11:30 pm), Vhong messaged Roxanne that he will pick her up few meters away from the Hotel. Beyond this time, within Ortigas area, Roxanne said Vhong pulled the Car over and there started the allegedly rape.

Chris Brown's ex-girlfriend, Rihanna reportedly entered into Men's Toilet and pushed a man out of the room at Zouk Restaurant, Manchester on Thursday. Somebody took a video of her while she went inside. Earlier, the 26 year old singer, was seen with Drake, 27, who rumored to be his boyfriend while dining in the same venue. The video did not actually tell if Rihanna and Drake were inside the Men's Comfort room together.

[VIDEO] News Station Accidentally Flashes Penis Photo amidst Helicopter Crash Coverage

While in the middle of a Helicopter Crash coverage, Fox Denver Affiliate KDVR tried to feed some twitter photos from the Crash scene but accidentally aired apenis photo. "After the first relevant picture from Seattle, the hosts stumbled when a picture of Edward Scissorhands popped up onscreen. That, in turn, was hastily replaced by a photo of an entrée resembling an omelette, which, after one more click of the mouse, was swapped out for a picture of an exposed penis." said in a huffingtonpost article.

But hours after, the TV station has released Official Apology Statement:


While reporting breaking news about the crash of the KOMO-TV helicopter in Seattle, Fox 31 Denver accidentally broadcast an offensive photo while scrolling live through a Twitter feed of pictures from the crash scene.

The photo was mistakenly broadcast by our control room. It did not come from the tablet many viewers saw being used by one of our anchors.

We apologize for the inadvertent broadcast of the image and we are taking immediate steps to prevent such an accident from happening again.

Nathan Allen Responds to Agness Walewinder's Offensive Article About Filipino Street Foods

Five Days ago, a Blogger and at the same time traveller from Poland, Agness Walewinder, posted an article in her blog with an offensive title of "I Would Rather Go Hungry Than Eat Filipino Street Food Again!" And as expected, as one of the Social Media Users of Asia, Filipinos shared the article and responded in positive and negative way. But what caught our attention the most is Nathan Allen's Response To "I'd Rather Go Hungry" Girl's article and to note, they are both foreigners but Nathan's way of writing is done professionally. Now, check some highlights below.

Agness wrote,"The biggest disappointment was not trying traditional Filipino dishes. Why? We simply could not find them! We visited enormous amount of local food stands and restaurants asking for balut, adobo, asado, daing and more and we we have heard was “Not here. We have some fish and fried pork only.”, “Do you want to try noodles instead?”, “We have some boiled eggs”. So, so disappointing!"

Nathan responded, "You admit that you weren't able to sample the best the country has to offer, so how is it fair to say you'd rather go HUNGRY than eat Filipino food again?  Don't you think that's a bit extreme?  I'd call it borderline unethical.  "

Agness wrote, "The Filipino food is packed with salt, sugar and oil. The meat we were served was soaking in oil, the fish that supposed to be grilled was full of oil and veggies we wanted to try contained more oil than the fattest meat we saw there. As we know, oil makes you feel so tired and slows your metabolism down. After having a few small Filipino lunches, we felt bloated and tired and we could tell it was the food."

"We not only started feeling fat (literally), but also suffered from stomachache and diarrhea. I had a massive migraine, mood swings and heartbum caused by spicy and oily pork."

Nathan responded,"I'm no expert...and forgive me for saying this, but based on the symptoms you have described, it appears you might have been experiencing PMS during your stay in the Philippines.  You certainly don't look very happy in the black and white photo at the top of your post.  The tone and mood of your post seems a bit irritable also, so it would make sense if you were uncomfortable during your stay in the country."

Agness wrote,"We asked for traditional Filipino breakfast when in Pagudpud. This is what we were served – a bunch of fruits, coffee with milk and some cakes filled with jam. Is this what locals eat in the morning?"

Me?  Once I made an effort to get "off the beaten path", I found that traditional Filipino food was in fact quite unique and delicious!  My love affair started when I collected fresh clams with a family in Palawan.  They made halaan sa tanglad (ginger clam soup).  Next I got hooked on tocino each morning for breakfast, fresh, delicious mangos for (part of my) lunch, and tangy sinigang soup for dinner.  From there I went to the BBQ stalls of Cebu and enjoyed puso (hanging rice) and of course adobo, lechon, crispy pata...and lastly: pork afritada and mechado (two of my favorites).

Oh, and Agness, I have two words for you:  HALO HALO.


Nathan's advices to Agness? Here below...

I say come back (just don't tell people who you are:)  Give it more time, explore the country more fully, and with an open mind.  I'm glad you acknowledge that it's one of the most beautiful places you've ever been.  On closer inspection you just might find that this admiration extends to the people and food as well...I know it did for me!

Filipinos are wonderful people...so wonderful, in fact, that there is a good chance they will let you come back - just to prove you wrong about their culinary heritage :)

Aside from all that, I would give you more credit if your observations resembled the actual reality of being a foreign tourist in the Philippines.  It pains me to read how you describe Filipino people and cuisine.

If You Don't Want to be Treated Like a Tourist, Stop Acting Like One

As you should know, if you want the "real deal", you must escape the tourists (and vendors who sell to them).  It's simple.  "Street food" in the Philippines is not the enemy, and I don't believe you have to go to fancy traditional Filipino restaurants to get great food.

Oh, and Agness, I have two words for you:  HALO HALO.


I know it's not fair to compare my experience to yours, because it seems you may have only been in the country for a week or so.  However, your short stay is exactly why I (and many others) hope you will be more careful with the "impressions" that you put out into the world in the future.
